Ingredients
Cooking Instructions
step 1
Trim the top 1 inch off each Artichokes (2) with a sharp knife. Then, use kitchen scissors to snip the pointed tips off the leaves. Lastly, trim the stem to about 1 inch or remove it if tough.
step 2
Rub the cut parts with a Lemon (1) half to prevent browning.
step 3
Fill a large pot with Water (4 cups) and bring to a boil. Add Garlic (3 cloves), lemon halves, Bay Leaf (1), and Salt (1 tsp).
step 4
Place a steamer basket inside the pot and position the artichokes stem-side up. Cover and steam for 30-40 minutes, or until a leaf easily pulls away and the base is tender when pierced with a knife.
step 5
Meanwhile prepare the garlic butter sauce. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the Unsalted Butter (4 Tbsp). Add Garlic (2 cloves) and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
step 6
Stir in juice of a Lemon (1), Salt (1/2 tsp) and Ground Black Pepper (1/4 tsp). Remove from heat and sprinkle with Fresh Parsley (1 Tbsp) if desired.
step 7
Remove the artichokes from the pot and let them cool slightly.
step 8
Serve with the garlic butter for dipping. To eat, pull off leaves, dip them in the butter, and scrape the tender part with your teeth.
